There is a reason I feel he helps at A2A, and he is a very valuable member as we move forward on the P-51D Mustang. Now, I could be wrong, but my understanding is that time was the biggest factor in why the plane doesn't simulate well.

My understanding is that he even worked with MS while developing Acceleration. For example, I currently work with Dudley Henriques at A2A, who is/was a demonstration pilot in a P-51. In almost every product I have worked with, we usually had an expert around who flew them, or continues to fly them. Getting a pilot who flies these planes is not a problem. However, I clearly remember that the team who built the model had a direct access to the real racer plane, and I think I've read somewhere that the original pilot in real life of the racer plane had a try on the FS one. I can't speak about the sounds, since I do not know what kind of sound the real aircraft (the race one, not the historic one) does. It doesn't have the same wings, it doesn't have the same engine power, and their's certainly a lot of other modifications that were done to this bird just of the racing optimisations. The fact is that the Acceleration Mustang is not a P-51D. No seriously, the Acceleration Mustang was highly criticized when the Acceleration pack was realased, because the cockpit was not a Mustang cockpit, and the flight model was not like a real Mustang P-51D. However, when it comes to the P-51 racer, why would you excpect this bird to fly like a Mustang ? It is NOT a Mustang, it doesn't have the same wings, and I was told once that wings have a pretty important role in the flight. Furthermore, it doesn't help I am a HUGE fan of the P-51 Mustang and this plane drives me nuts. Not only does it fly nothing like a P-51, even after modifications, the engine performs nothing like a Merlin, doesn't sound like a Merlin, the failures are laughable (IMO) and I constantly find people who fly it who "think" they know a lot about the P-51 after flying this. Even today it is still a pretty solid default aircraft.

To many, this is their first introduction to Flight Simulator and is a great platform to learn to navigate with. Maybe there were other factors causing it or maybe I just wasn't managing the engine good enough. What do I think is the best? Hmm. 75% is pretty much max for the P-51 without ADI but even then sometimes the engine catches fire.

If you are getting close to red lining any of these, level off and ease back the trottle til they stabilize. Monitor your engine guages, such as oil temp and pressures, even the EGT and MP's during the climb. When at the chillier altitudes, you could open the throttle to higher RPMs with less chance to cook the engine. I would do the following: Do the T/O at 75% at VX speed to clear obstacles, then retract flaps when over tree height, lower the nose and speed up to cruise climb, instead of XY speed, to keep as much cooling to the engine as possible. The RR Merlin engines were very powerful so I would not doubt you could get airbourne at 75% throttle.

I know the P51's were excellent performers at high altitude, so mabe that has an adverse impact at the lower altitudes when you are at lower speeds. What does your checklist say about the take off procedure? So why The P51 burns after 100% engine power? is that because he is so Old or realistic issue? I would say that is a very realistic issue with all aircraft to a certain extent. next time I try to gently takeoff with 75% power and everything went good Line up with the runway and start to put some power! all lookin good and sudenly after put 100% Engine Power My P51 Got engine Failure and burns.
